We've had quite a challenging time lately with Braeden. He wakes up at least once every night and we let him cry himself back to sleep after checking to make sure he is really okay. By the time that is over with neither of us can sleep so we are up for at least an hour after he falls back to sleep.
Then every morning at 5am he wakes up crying and Mark will get up wtih him most of the time and he won't go back to sleep so Mark gets up with him and they go into the living room to play and within 45 minutes he is back to sleep! He sleeps until 730 or 8am and is awake for the day.
There is no reason for him to wake up at 5 -- he does not get fed at that time. Not for a month now. So why he is up we don't know and why even if we let him cry it out he still wakes up consistently at that time and then needs a nap short time later..no matter how hard we try to keep him awake and avoid that nap he sleeps anyway.....
Any suggestions for two parents who are beyond exhausted, fighting unnecessarily and stressed beyond what you'd think would be possible?

Oh hun - I'd love to offer advice, but I'm still trying to figure out my little guy's waking patterns! sigh, the joys of parenthood.
You said after 8am Brae is awake for the day...doesn't he nap? Sometimes an overtired baby can have erratic night patterns. I make sure Brandon naps 3 times a day, and it has made a huge difference in his nights!
Hope something sorts out. Babies are tricksters..just when you think you have it figured out they change on ya!!
Sounds like my life ;)
Susannah wakes up every morning at 3am and cries, in our bed, wanting to nurse but not nursing, until she falls back to sleep at about 4am. Then, she wakes up again, around 6am when I am willing to nurse her.
Tell me if you figure out the answer;) So far, I'm just trying to grin and bear it. This, too, shall pass ;)
